Brass is Back

After years of removing brass hardware and golden oak cabinets from homes in order to update them, has the time come to put them back?

As such things go, white cabinets went from the cheapest option to the option that everyone wanted and now we are seeing more people choose oak again.

We are mostly seeing oak in higher end housing, but this trend will likely follow in main stream housing. The oak cabinets now are usually more brown and grey tones and not golden.

Brass is also back, especially in higher end housing, but the brass now is usually brushed and less glossy.

Single tone white paint is making a comeback, as is trim-less door and window frames that give a more stream-lined look. Low pile carpets are also back on the table again.

Looking forward, I would guess that we are about to enter a phase of “wood love” once more. We will likely see less knotty alder, but instead new woods, with new stains. I (wood) guess that less homes will have expensive built in smart home setups and more will have integrated, separate components.

I worked with them as the appraisal coordinator for my lending institution for three years and they are great to work with. Not a corporation but a family owned business which is nice and always willing to explain anything I had questions about.

Our law firm, Heideman & Associates, hired Jeff Jorgensen to work as an expert witness on a construction defect matter. Jeff was very professional, quick to respond to our inquiry and communications, and did an excellent job for our case. We wouldn't hesitate to use Jeff for future expert needs and we highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, professional appraiser!
