The resistance has made progress toward wiping out the zombie housing plague (foreclosed homes that are abandoned by their owners). In 2016 zombie homes represented 4.7% of foreclosed homes and in the third quarter of 2019 it was down to 3.2%. The progress has continued. In the fourth quarter of 2019 it was all the way down to 1.5%. If we continue our fight, we may be able to wipe them out.
With the financial crisis came a plague like no other and it has taken years of struggle and economic recovery for us to push it back this far. We have been aided by the fact that homes are immobile and struggle to infect other houses. As long as the plague does not adapt and jump species to humans, we should be much safer than we were a few years ago. Hopefully our economy can stay strong and avoid another outbreak or recession.
