According to a recent survey of more than 2,500 adults by Bankrate.com, home ownership is more important than being able to retire, having a successful career, owning an automobile, having children or earning a college degree for 75% of the respondents.

I am not surprised that most people feel like home ownership is more important than owning an automobile, but I am surprised that it is considered more important than some of the other items. I guess from a purely financial perspective, that makes sense since home equity is the largest source of wealth for American families.
